Quick start

From a recording to a usable graph

01 — IMPORT

Open a video

Choose a locally stored video. The app asks only for access needed to open the media you choose.

02 — CALIBRATE

Set a real-world scale

In CAL, place the two endpoints of a known distance, enter its value and unit, and set the origin/rotation when required.

03 — TRACK

Mark the object

Use manual tracking for precise frame-by-frame placement or Auto Track after choosing a seed and ROI.

Motion tracking

Track accurately and correct with confidence.

Manual tracking

  1. Pause on the frame you want.
  2. Choose TRACK and tap the object centre.
  3. Use the precision selector and nudges if needed.
  4. Confirm, then advance a frame and repeat.

If you edit a placed point, it is converted back to video coordinates so it stays at the correct physical location on redraw.

Auto tracking

  1. Choose Auto Track and set a seed around the target.
  2. Resize or move the ROI to restrict the search area.
  3. Select the frame step and run.
  4. Review low-confidence results and manually correct them.

Use the shortest sensible stride and inspect fast motion, occlusions, and blur.

Light intensity

Analyse both videos and your own pictures.

Use a video frame

  1. Open LIGHT and stay on the SELECT tab.
  2. Press VIDEO if a photo had been selected.
  3. Pause the recording at the frame of interest.
  4. Choose POINT, LINE, or BOX and place the measurement geometry.
  5. Review Profile, Table, Compare, or Time results.

Use a picture

  1. Open LIGHT → SELECT.
  2. Press IMAGE and select a photo from your device.
  3. The photo replaces the video view for light measurement only.
  4. Place a POINT, LINE, or BOX over the photo.
  5. Use VIDEO to switch back to the recording at any time.

A selected photo uses pixels on its position axis. The video's real-world calibration cannot be transferred to a different image.

What is measured: grayscale, red, green, or blue channel intensity on a 0–255 scale. A line creates a profile; a box averages intensity across its height; a point reads a local sample. Enable background subtraction or smoothing only when they are scientifically appropriate.

Export

Make results understandable outside the app.

CSV

Best for raw observations and use in analysis software. Includes timestamps, coordinates, derived quantities, units, and quality metadata.

Excel workbook

Best for spreadsheet work. Separate sheets keep raw data, the selected representation, statistics, and quality information understandable.

PDF report

Best for sharing. Graphs include a title, X/Y axis names, units, legend, and visible numeric range so they remain meaningful when printed.

Before exporting: verify calibration, review uncertain auto-track points, choose the intended series and visible tracks, and check that units match your experiment.
